Sid,
The vent on the rear of the pump should have a check valve (just a small ball
bearing)
and is for venting ozone produced by points ... an unnecessary vestige on the
SS pumps,
I suppose.
The vent on the front is required to let the diaphragm move and is the
inlet for the air "pumped" out of the back vent. Usually, these are covered
with a rubber cap on Healeys (the cap is probably missing on some cars). I ran
a tube from this vent into the boot ... out of sheer anal retentiveness, I
guess.
