I agree. I've run Bill Bolton lightened flywheels on both my BJ8, and my
BT7 (which has a BJ8 clutch/flywheel set-up) for several years. A barely
noticeable change at first, and then it is never really noticeable again.
As far as I'm concerned, there is really no down side, and the engines both
pick up rev's a bit faster, thus deceiving me into thinking that I have more
power!
Both cars still idle well - no noticeable added vibration or roughness.
(both engines are completely stock). I seem to recall Bill telling me that
the lightening is in the range of about 4.5 - 5lb, so it is not really as
extreme as one would want on a race modified engine. I also recall Bill
saying that some people could detect a very slight handling improvement in a
car with less flywheel weight - I confess that I could not tell the
difference. That doesn't really mean anything: for me, if the Healey
starts, runs, and gets me where I want to go without breaking, I'm happy to
enjoy the trip!
I agree that a rear main seal is a good thing to install while the flywheel
is off - it's easy enough to do at that point. It'l probably still drip
oil, maybe a bit less.

It is barely noticeable, but noticeable just the same. Very subtle
change that I would consider
as a slight improvement. I do not have to spin the motor up any more
than before, it just spins
up faster, if that makes sense.
While the flywheel is off I suggest a rear crankshaft seal.
