My Longbridge built BN4's brake drums are smooth with a cast ring. What is
interesting is that this ring does not go around the entire circumference
but only a partial radius. And the rings aren't the same length on all of
the drums. Is this for balancing?

David -

Late BN1s and BN2s had a cast "ring" on the front face
of the brake drum and smooth outer curcumfrence, but
other than that all healeys had the same drum.

All 6 cyl healeys have ribs cast into the outer
circumfrence of the drum.

What do your "ribs" look like?

Alan
