The thin manifold makes me wonder,
Do you have insulating blocks between the carbs and manifold?
How hot do the dashpots get?
Hot enough to thin the oil?
Is it happening with both carbs?
You could try insulators if you have none, or go with a heavier heat-tolerant
oil and see if it makes a difference...
When my car had HDs on it, if I topped up the dampers, they would drop a bit
over the next 50 miles or so, and if I topped them again, it would happen
again. -But if I left them alone, they would seek a level about 1/2"? low, and
stay there.....
