    Another angle happened to a friend of mine; he spent a lot of time on
eBay, but only as a 'buyer'.

    Someone hijacked his account and put a lot of bogus items up for sale
with one and two day bid times. Theory is you're not likely to check your
'items for sale' if you're never selling anything.

    Check your "my eBay" site early and often. He checked around and several
'automotive specific types' had the same experience.
