just got back home from a month in oregon and have finally finished reading
all the e-mails. some really good info. went up to portland for the all
british car meet they have every labor day. not as many healeys this year for
some reason. anyway, i need some expert guidance. a few years ago my
gearshift lever would occasionally lock the detent that keeps you from going
all the way over to reverse when you are trying for first or second. it would
do this for four or five time then stop. i took off the transmission top
cover but could see nothing wrong. tapped on it lightly and reinstalled and
problem went away, that is. until last week when driving around up in oregon.
it appears to be getting worse, i.e., the detent stays locked for a longer
time. this is irritating as it makes it hard to find first gear. any ideas
on what is the cause and how to fix it. appreciation in advance.
