I'll have a look at my tonneau tomorrow. I don't have it on the car at present
as I have just refitted my hardtop to go tarmac rallying.

>From memory the stiffners stick out the front of the stiffener bar by about
1/2". It allways takes a firm pull to get the fitting over the turn stud and
you can see the stiffener bar just pushing into the flap.

Hope this helps

So we have determined that these go over the tonneau bar. how far past the
front of the bar do they extend?
Now they go all the way to the fold in the flap. They noticabley stick out
in front. Thats why I originally thought I made them too long.

Hi Tracy

The stiffener (either oak or folded metal) should sit on top of the stiffner
bar.

The flap of material sewn to the underside of the tonneau cover then folds
under the stiffner bar and clips to the turn stud on the underside of the
stiffner.

This keeps it all nice and tight even at 100.

I have an original style tonneau cover with sleeves. I have stiffners
made of oak and a stiffner bar. My question is how long should the
stiffners be?
Should they ride atop the stiffner bar? Underneath? Or should they be
short enough as to not interfere with the stiffner bar. I left them
long enough that they
just fit in the sleeves and allow the flap to be folded over and
connect to the murphy studs. They currently ride atop the stiffner
bar. I will probably cut these shorter
unless some one can convince me otherwise.
