What is considered state of the art

In the book "Secrets of the Show Cars" they recommend hot water and DAWN
dish washing detergent. Apply FULL strength to the grease. Carefully brush
away as the DAWN dissolves the grease. With a heavy buildup you may do it two
or three times. When you get to an area where there is a label, such as on
the brake fluid... DO NOT USE A BRUSH, use a soft cloth and even more warm
water and DAWN...

Hope this helps. It has worked for me.
