Gary Anderson,

Let me up on that soapbox! You're telling the truth.
Let's support independent enterprises that have supported
our hobby for so many years.

Thank you for the use of your soapbox,

david c

Kepler's, the independent local book store in Menlo Park, CA that
might have
been declared a national cultural landmark (the Grateful Dead got
their start
jamming there, Joan Baez worked there as a clerk , and sang on
Saturday nights
before her career took off, and the Home Brew Computer Club met there)
closed
last week, unable to stand off the competition from Amazon and its
discounts.
Clerks said that people would come in, look at the books, write down
their
titles then say they were going home to order them to save 10-15
percent.
What's the point?
When we stop supporting the independent enterprises that have
supported our
hobby for so many years by providing excellent service, informed
assistance and
advice, and good products at a reasonable price, we are in danger of
undermining an important resource.
Many folks on this list will verify that if you order your wheels and
tires
from Hendrix or British Wire Wheel, they will come mounted, balanced,
and ready
to go on the car, as rapidly as UPS can get them to you, for a fair
price,
and the vendors will stand behind them.
Seems like a fair deal to me.
Okay, I'm off my soapbox now.
Cheers
Gary Anderson
