I have what appears to be an excessive amount of rattling noise coming from

in?

Doug,
On the forward edge of the windup window glass there is a steel channel
notched out to take 2 anti-rattle clips the parts manual calls "Runner-door
glass (nylon)". The glass is held into place by compressing a rubber glazing
strip into the steel channel, trapping the nylon runners.
A similar arangement of steel channel and 1 more nylon runner with packing
strip holds the bottom of the glass, which also curves somewhat up the back
side of the glass at the bottom. Therefore we have 2 runners along the
leading edge, one near the top and one near the bottom of the glass, and the
third fitted at the bottom rear edge of the glass.
There is no felt applied to either the forward nor the rear channels with
the theory being that the contacts for this glass assembly are the 3 white
nylon runners and the window winder arm that supports the assembly at the
bottom of the glass.
If felt were applied to these channels the nylon runners could not slide in
the channels.
All is well until the little tabs at the edges of the nylon guides break off
allowing the glass to fall beyond their original limits or until someone
messes with the adjustments of the front or rear channels as they are
installed in the doors.

Interestingly this is a better system in theory than in practice. When Road
and Track magazine reviewed the all new 3000 MK 3 they noted that the
windows rattled down in the doors!

Some people insist on having windup windows in a sports car........tsk, tsk!
