If a crack is found in a wheel spindle or crank it's a goner. If it's in non
structural sheet metal grind the crack out, weld it and re-surface the weld
by grinding. If a crack is in a manifold drill a small diameter hole all the
way thru at the start and the stop of the crack, this will keep the crack
from spreading. Plug the drilled holes with the same material as the part to
be welded. Grind the crack to chamfer it and re-weld the crack and pins up.
Re-magnaflux or Dye penetrant the area. If your repairing a cast iron part
beware that cast iron doesn't weld very well. It can be TIG welded but most
welders will use a high nickel rod and either Oxy Acetylene gas braze the
repair or use a TIG brazing rod on cast iron. Weld aluminum parts.
