Two different gear lever grommets that I have used are OK for a while,
then, after some use, both move so that the rubber 'folds' where it
shouldn't (radial folds). It looks terrible!
Looking at the parts manual, I see there is a "Ring - gear lever
grommet" (AHH 5388) illustrated just under the grommet itself. Does this
attach the grommet to the gear lever so that it can't ride up? I don't
have this. Cape don't stock it, and I can't find it on the AH Spares
illustrations on their web catalogue.
Am I guessing right as to what this 'ring' does? I don't want to replace
the grommet for a third time if the problems is with this missing ring.
Any guidance appreciated, as always.
