I recently received an e-mail from "E-Bay" asking me to update my account. It
looked just like an E-Bay message. But they wanted my password and SS #, so I
sent a query to E-Bay to see if this was real. I got back a reply almost
immediately: the e-mail was a fake--someone just fishing for identities. The
reply from E-Bay said that A) E-Bay will never ask password and SS info; B) to
verify that a message has been sent from E-Bay go to your own E-Bay account
information and get copies of the mail that has been sent to you from E-Bay
and C) forward the fraudulent e-mail to E-Bay Security at spoof@ebay.com. BTW
the reply address on the e-mail I got from the fake E-Bay was
norply/at/ebay.com. (@ changed to /at/ to insure that the address is not
confused with the legit E-Bay fraud address.) John Trifari Golden Gate
