An overnight soaking in PB Blaster along with careful taps with a
rubber hammer got everything loose. Now that they are appart, the
piston spings are about 3 inches different. I don't know if one has
been installed that is wrong, or if years of compression have resulted
in weakening the other. I guess I am at a pause untill I order a
couple of "red" springs
