Ned -

David's advice is correct.  Don't bother trying to fiddle with it bit
by bit, take out the whole block and have everything mic'd and
measured, and rebuild it properly.  If you do that, the motor will
last a long long time... 200K + miles.  If you cheap out, you will be
tinkering with it for the next 20 years.
