Jonathan,
3M Strip Caulk works great.  3M part number is 08578, and a 20
yard box (lifetime supply, pretty much, unless you do a lot of car
work) is less than $15.  Available at Eastwood, NAPA, or any body
shop supply.  Also is the answer for BJ7 and 8 door chrome, rear
surround trim bits, etc.  There's lots of other practical applications, too,
from sealing your washing machine drain hose to stacking small bits of
hardware for those hard-to-reach fastening situations.  You need to keep
your fingers wet with water to work it; otherwise it's like an encounter
with the Tar Baby.
