Jerry,  sorry to hear of your misfortune.   If you don't see a problem with 
the pump then I would say that
the problem is not your pump.

Why not do a quick meter test on your pump line to see where the
short to ground is.   Which is what I would think would be the problem from 
what you have mentioned
so far.
