The bonnets on the sixes were provided a scoop of questionable utility, mostly
to clear the radiator and for aesthetic reasons. The problem With louvering
the six cylinder bonnet, or so I've read, is that the scoop and the louvers
will tend to fight each other and air that stagnates against the windscreen
will counterflow into the bonnet louvers. The fender louvers are more
effective because they discharge hot air into a low pressure area.
