Per,

Cannot answer your question.  But is there perhaps enough difference in the 3rd 
and 4th gears in the gearbox of the two cars to require the different speedos?  
Just a thought.  However, 980 compared to 1575 seems like a whopping difference 
for so little variation in the gearbox or rearend.
