Hi Dan;

=20

I have been adjusting my bonnet lately, so this is relatively fresh for =
me=E2=80=A6

=20

I, too found I needed to change the striker pin depth, and also found =
that I couldn=E2=80=99t get a wrench in there and have room to turn it. =
I was at a place where I did not want the alignment to change, so I just =
marked the outline of the striker assembly on the bonnet before removing =
the two bolts holding it up there.

=20

After giving myself a little less compression and a little more travel =
after latching down, I just lined it back up where it was, and had much =
better closure.

=20

So =E2=80=93 short version: you are right, the striker needs to come =
down to adjust the striker depth =E2=80=93 as far as I can see.

Subject: [Healeys] Bonnet latch adjustment

=20

Hello listers,

I've looked in the Archives/manual and don't see a "how to" re adjusting =
the bonnet latch on my 1962 3000 Mk II.=20

When I pull the release the bonnet is just barely pushed up by the =
striker spring. =20

The striker pin is threaded to allow it to be longer or shorter as =
needed. =20

I'm thinking the pin should be screwed in (shortened) so that the spring =
is compressed more. I see that there=20

is an opening on the backside of the of the bracket that holds the =
pin/spring assembly to the bonnet which allows

access to a lock nut. I've tried getting an open end wrench and/or box =
wrench on the lock nut...if I get the

wrench through the opening I can't it on the nut. The nut looks to be =
9/16", am I right on that? Someone, please

tell me the "how to".

Thanks,

Dan White
