=E2=80=93 basically a transverse shock absorber to stop steering kick-back.=
I=E2=80=99ve had several of those. Interesting though that my special bodi=
ed Healey 100 (the Ward Special) also had one fitted =E2=80=93 presumably f=
rom its days as an Ausca-bodied race car.

I contacted the previous owner of 42351 who owned it from 1990 to 2014.=C2=
=A0 He had no knowledge of the gizmo on the steering rod and said he did no=
t recall his mechanic either installing it or mentioning it.
I called the telephone number I have recorded for the owner prior to that (=
1986 =E2=80=93 1990) but got an answering machine with a message in Spanish=
.=C2=A0 I left a message about the reason for the car and invited a return =
response.=C2=A0 If I get one, I=E2=80=99ll post it to the list.
