The two columns types, from the forward side of the steering box front cove=
rs to the end of the splines are, pretty much the same length. That would l=
ead you to think the steering wheel on the adjustable type would move close=
r to the dash than the fixed wheel. The location of the splines in the whee=
ls are in a different location fore and aft.  The collect on the adjustable=
 wheel is forward on the wheel hub and the fixed wheel splines are just und=
er the retaining nut.  So after going back to the garage and making some cr=
ude measurements it looks like the adjustable steering wheel can be about t=
wo inches closer to the dash.  Could be wrong as its almost bed time=E2=80=
=A6.

in relation to one with an adjustable column? I know the adjustable column =
