til you feel a slight spring=0Apressure resistance. The lever should go=
 down another =C2=BC=E2=80=9D after=0Aencountering the resistance=E2=80=

ment up & down in that lever. Well, my lever does move and does=0Alift t=

=0Aadvice from the various gurus and found reference to ODs being stuck=
=0Abut those seemed to be to do with =E2=80=9Cweak springs=E2=80=9D whic=
h,=0Aparticularly after a long lay-off, wouldn=E2=80=99t disengage. The=
 cure for=0Athis being a good smack on the steel plate sandwiched in the=
 OD from=0Abelow. Well, that seems to be a stuck mechanism issue whereas=
 I=E2=80=99m=0Afacing a hydraulic conundrum. Or am I? =0A=0A=09There is=
 what is usually referred to as the =E2=80=9Cpressure relief=0Avalve=E2=
=80=9D adjacent to the accumulator. The name suggested that pressure=0Am=
ight be stuck in that area=E2=80=A6.but surely not overnight? =0A=0A=09A=
ny ideas? I am particularly reluctant to take the gearbox and OD=0Aout.=
 You=E2=80=99ll recall the ridiculous business of the defective clutch=

0% on the few times I=E2=80=99d=0Abeen able to take it out since then un=
til..</li>=0A<li style=3D"margin-left:0cm;">One day, the OD stopped=0Afu=
nctioning.</li>=0A<li style=3D"margin-left:0cm;">I checked the electrics=
. All fine there=0Aso I delved a bit deeper.</li>=0A<li style=3D"margin-=
left:0cm;">It had fried its solenoid which I=0Areplaced. But=E2=80=A6</l=
i>=0A<li style=3D"margin-left:0cm;">That did not fix the problem so=E2=
=80=A6</li>=0A<li style=3D"margin-left:0cm;">I decided that the operatin=
g valve=E2=80=99s=0Aadjustment might be off so..</li>=0A<li style=3D"mar=
gin-left:0cm;">I bought a dial gauge and hoped to sort=0Ait out precisel=
y rather than by =E2=80=9Cfeel=E2=80=9D, which I lack in this=0Aarea.</l=
i>=0A<li style=3D"margin-left:0cm;">Prior to using the gauge I decided t=
o=0Asee if the OD was functioning at all so I raised the car on stands=
=0Aand fitted my pressure gauge.</li>=0A<li style=3D"margin-left:0cm;">I=
 get a reading of 500psi rising a bit=0Awhen I rev the engine but I=E2=
=80=99d suppose that would drop when the oil=0Awarms up.</li>=0A<li styl=
e=3D"margin-left:0cm;">BUT, and this is where things go=0Apear-shaped=E2=
=80=A6moving the little lever on the RHS up and down does not=0Aengage/d=
isengage OD. There is no change on the gauge to show OD=0Aengaging or di=
sengaging.</li>=0A<li style=3D"margin-left:0cm;">AND, the gauge stays at=
 500psi even=0Awhen the engine is off. Moving the lever 20 times has zer=
o effect.=0AStayed at 500 overnight!</li>=0A<li style=3D"margin-left:0cm=
;">Of course, I checked for dirt in the=0Aoperating valve area. None.</l=
i>=0A<li style=3D"margin-left:0cm;">Likewise, the tiny hole in the =E2=
=80=9Cvalve =E2=80=93=0Aoperating=E2=80=9D (the spindle thing which the=
 ball sits on)=E2=80=A6.that=E2=80=99s=0Aclear. And surely, the pressure=
 would diminish overnight if=0Asomething in that area was partially obst=
ructed?</li>=0A<li style=3D"margin-left:0cm;">When I remove the pressure=
 valve,=0Athere=E2=80=99s a small spillage =E2=80=93 no more than you=E2=
=80=99d expect =E2=80=93 but=0Arepeating the pressure gauge process only=
 returns the same=0Aresults.</li>=0A<li style=3D"margin-left:0cm;">I see=
 in the bible according to Norman=0ANock that =E2=80=9CHolding this leve=
r with your thumb and index finger, you=0Ashould be able to push the lev=
er down lightly about =E2=85=9C=E2=80=9D until you=0Afeel a slight sprin=
g pressure resistance. The lever should go down=0Aanother =C2=BC=E2=80=
=9D after encountering the resistance=E2=80=A6=E2=80=A6=E2=80=9D ie ther=
e=E2=80=99s about =E2=85=9D=E2=80=9D=0Amovement up &amp; down in that le=
ver. Well, my lever does move and does=0Alift the ball, but there=E2=80=
=99s not =E2=85=9D=E2=80=9D movement there. Could that be the=0Aproblem=

y books and collection of advice from the various=0Agurus and found refe=

ak springs=E2=80=9D which, particularly after a long lay-off,=0Awouldn=
=E2=80=99t disengage. The cure for this being a good smack on the=0Astee=
l plate sandwiched in the OD from below. Well, that seems to be=0Aa stuc=
k mechanism issue whereas I=E2=80=99m facing a hydraulic conundrum.=0AOr=
 am I?</p>=0A<p class=3D"MsoNormal" style=3D"margin-left:18pt;">There is=
 what is=0Ausually referred to as the =E2=80=9Cpressure relief valve=E2=
=80=9D adjacent to the=0Aaccumulator. The name suggested that pressure m=
ight be stuck in=0Athat area=E2=80=A6.but surely not overnight?</p>=0A<p=
