You've come to the right place! I don't know how many of us can claim
to be authorities, but we are all experienced!
Sounds like you need to immediately contact MOSS motors to get their FREE
catalog. Even if you never buy anything from them (I do!), there is lots
of good information in it such as the engine numbers for the years of
production, paint numbers, hints and tech tips, and excellent diagrams of
parts and assemblies. I think the illustration of the transmission in
the MOSS catalog is better than that in my Haynes manual!
Welcome to the fold! You're welcome to any advice, hints, anecdotes, and
even occasionally crying on a shoulder...
  MOSS' number is: 1-800-235-6954.
Moss Motors Ltd * 7200 Hollister Ave, Goleta, CA 93117-2807 * (805) 968-1041
Moss Motors
440 Rutherford St., Goleta, CA 93117

There's even a WWW.MOSSMOTORS.COM site, but it's a skeleton so far...
I'm not sure which address is right, although I would suspect that a
letter mailed to Moss in Goleta will find its way...
