Dead Ribcase

My second gear is shot, First pops out. I'm thinking about doing the 5
speed conversion. 
Does anyone have any input? I'd like to hear from folks who have done
it. 

62' MKII Sprite with '67 1275 and ribcase tranny, which was "rebuilt" by
an expert right before the car was totaled, but I don't what to get into
that right now.
