The T cars that Steve Conelly saw going through Marysville I'm sure were on
the way up to the GoF. We even went that way, you can only take so much of
I5 with semis on your tail, State Route 9 is a nice drive up through Sedro
Wooley.

I'll have to say that the Vancouver Pre 56 Unclub did a great job with the
event!

Tuesday they had a swap meet and the funkanah.... we were going to do the
funkanah but they had a small thunder and lightning storm about the time we
were going to do it. By time we finished lunch and a couple of beers it was
over with.

Wednesday was the car show. It was held on a bricked area between Chatau
Whistler and the Blackcomb Ski Lift. The cars looked fabulous tucked along
the side. There were many cars that I've not seen before, a 4 seat PA from
the Medford, OR area was outstanding, and a very original VA Tickford
Tourer was great to see. There were 15 TF's at the show, more than I've
ever seen in one place. One of the MG Liquid suspension cars that raced at
Indy was there. There were more incredable cars then I can mention, one
that always stands out to me is Gene Roth's TC. For those of you who don't
know Gene he is missing one arm, yet he does fabulous restorations and does
all but the interior work himself. One of the cool things they did was go
through and put finalst ribbons on the cars that were in the running for an
award. There was also a spectacular thunder and lightning show after
dinner. A few friends had gone up on the gondola to the top to have dinner,
they ended up having to be trucked off due to weather.

Thursday was a Gimmic Rally/Tour. You got to see some of this very
beautiful area. We even ran across a baby bear in a residentual area. Later
that night was the Awards banquet... honestly the only award I remember is
Linda and I getting first place in the ralley! That's about the only way my
dad's TF is going to win anything.

Friday morning was the winners circle and then an open house at Peter
Welch's MG collection in Vancouver. If you ever have a chance to see this
collection do not pass it up. I don't know how you can single out one
car... K3, PB Airline Coupe, J2, M, TA Tickford, Stiles bodied L1 with
rumble seat, TC, YT, TD, TF 1500, Twin Cam MGA, Arnoldt Tourer.

On the way home we took kind of the long way around and took the ferry over
to Port Townsend and then down 101. Between Seafair and Seattle afternoon
traffic this was a great move, plus the drive is beautiful. Before we got
to Centralia we got caught in another thunder & lightning storm and ended
up taking refuge at a Motel 6 in Centralia. Shortly after getting in the
room they lost power, the only light we had was from my laptops display.
The lightning storm was spectacular, it would sheet acros the whole horizon.

Once again I've got to say thanks to Colin, Ross, Gary, and the rest of the
crew that put on the event. I know how much work it takes and how little
time they have to enjoy the event.
