I totaly agree with Skye, never the less there is a live cable that come out of the sensor where the oil pipe from the guage connects to the engine oil outlet that goes to the gauge. When I first got my car, the gauge had oil inside it. I have since cleaned and tefloned the connections. If this fails I guess I need a new guage.
