Interesting subject John - you obviously have strong feelings about it
and i can see your point without really having the vaguest idea how to
solve
the problems as you see them. Being from the "wicked" 500 mile circle
(well just about)i may not be the one to suggest anything to you - and in
fact, Ron Tugwellis the only NAMGBR officer i have NOT met - since he is
3000+ miles away
(and yes.... Robin can be a bit bolshy when he's pissed!- but I bet you
never
met Ian Pender, you'd have mentioned it!!)
The "problem" lies in the 3000+ miles- for most enthusiasts, it just isnt
practical to go that far for an event - and i imagine that is why so many
NAMGBR
events are centrally located- personally i find about 300 miles one way
is as much as i can manage in a weekend(Maine to the north and Baltimore
to the south) but i cover as many in between as i can! Furthermore there
are likely more midwest/eastern members which would tend to lead to a
bias in that area. also, there are great tranches of space between say
Kansas City and California where there is 2/3 of bugger-all which
mustlead to the west coast being a tad isolated. (this is a JOKE before
all you wyoming/colorado folk blitz me)
My suggestion is to lobby harder for west-coast participation, run for
office,
sponsor a west coast regional event, grow the club in the area so that it
CANNOT be
overlooked - i would love to make the trip out there to meet all you left
handed enthusiasts- make it worthwhile!!!
