  I sure can see rule #3.  If you are using the OD to raise your top
speed at the end of a straight you'd be right about at max engine torque
when you engaged the OD, if you kept your foot in it.  Ouch!  

  Rule #4 reminds me of a time when I had a nice drift set up in my
turbo Corsa and impulsively downshifted to power out of it.  You can
imagine what happened. ;^)  I know it's kind of in reverse but it's sort
of the same thing.
