My name is Steve and I'm new to the list. I have a 1950 chevy 1/2 ton
pickup that I've been working on for the past 8 years
and is a daily driver. At the moment it is down to the bare frame for
some major work. Before going under the knife so to
speak I had all ready put an '86 V8 w/ a 4 speed saginaw trans. w/ a
Patrick's shifter, to a '78 nova rear end. On the rear end
I added a set of Firestone air bags. In the front I have power steering

using the kit and disk breaks from chevy duty. Now I'm
substituting my 3-window cab (which was rust free) to a 5-window cab
that ended up needing a lot of TLC. The cab will
receive a new bench seat (2nd seat behind driver) out of a chevy astro
van, gas tank moved under the bed, power break pedal
assembly from Industrial Chassis and electric wipers. The cab was
stripped down to bare metal primed and sealed. Parts of
the inside, firewall and underside will be coated with that bed liner
stuff. The tranny will be rebuilt but I need some help and
info. I heard that a saginaw 3 speed overdrive unit will work with the
saginaw 4 speed. What I need is how to do this, how to
wire it up and where can I find this unit in a manual if I need to take
it apart? Also if you have one that you want to get rid of, I
need one. The front suspension will be replaced with a '63 1/2 ton
front suspension. I've seen one and it looks great. Later
on I will replace the coil springs w/ air bags. This project will be
done hopefully in the spring if we get one. Some other
questions that I have are:
1. I have a truck shop electric wiper unit and it doesn't work very
good. I actually had to take the unit apart to re-calibrate it
with the help of the manufacturer. Sence then, I've replaced the unit
twice. I did notice that this units arm that the wiper
linkage attaches to is slightly longer than the original vacuum units.
Am I the only one with this problem? Over this last summer
I've rebuilt several vacuum wipers debating on using them instead of the

electric. I plan to use a vacuum reservoir and/or
electric vacuum pump with the wipers. What do you think?
2. wanted....1954 or 1955 1st series delux recirculating heater.
Mine works great but it is very cold in Klamath Falls,
Oregon.
3. wanted.....1954 or 1955 1st series bell housing cross member
4. wanted......1953 to 1955 1st series rear fender for side mount
tire

Thanks for all your help and input
