The GMC serial #'s don't say much. I believe the only thing they tell you
besides the basic model is in which assembly plant the truck was built on the
smaller trucks. 400 series and above the serial tells more about the
drivetrain. Also, the secret to getting answers to your questions on this
list is to be fairly specific about your problem(s) in the subject heading.
Put something like "GMC serial # help" in your subject. This'll get the
attention of the guys that can help. Hope this helps,
