Has anyone had experience with trying to repair rear spring mounts on a 47-54
truck? that is the riveted mounting brackets on the frame to which the spring
shackles mount? Mine are wallowed out tremendously from years of neglect. I
thing they are cast steel and seem to be the same on GMC and chevrolet. I have
thought about machining them out and putting in a sleeve and filling the
balance of the gap with weld. Have also been on the lookout for good used
ones. Most of the used ones are attached to differentials and springs which
must be bought to get the brackets. If absolutely necessary that can be done.
