[oletrucks] GMC V8 carburetor question

I have recently purchased a rebuilt 
Bendix-Stromberg model WW carburetor 
via an unmentionable web-based auction 
site.  My '57 GMC V8-347 uses this 
model carburetor and my old one has 
a leak down problem that a new kit 
didn't fix.  

The new carburetor has an automatic choke.  
I've never seen one before on a TF GMC 
truck and was wondering if this was 
an option or if someone had adapted it 
somehow.
