I took my fenders off and re-installed them once after I painted them. I
thought that it looked easier to pull the front clip off as one whole piece,
but I didn't have the man power to assure it was carefully pulled away from
the body or reinstalled on the body without banging into anything (only
myself and my wife were available). I ended up taking the fenders off one
at a time and re-installing them the same way and it turned out to be no big
deal. I masking taped the cab in the area where the fenders meet and I
masking taped the edges and corners of the fenders. Also, I laid old
household carpet padding over everything like the brake rotors and spindles
and on the floor underneath where I was working just in case anything
slipped. That old carpet padding works great for cushioning freshly painted
parts even when you transport them. The radiator support needs to be on so
that you have something to attach the front of the fender to.
