Sounds like you burned/scored the pressure plate.  I had the same thing happen 
on
my '64 Chev truck...when I took it out, the plate looked like someone was
experimenting with a new art form involving a torch!  A new clutch/pressure 
plate
fixed it right up...no more shaking
