If you have the original tie rod ends on the vehicle now " multi piece tie
rods ends with adjustable screw, dual springs and cups", you can replace
them with the newer version and gain additional clearance.

I had the same problem on my 1952 when going to wider rims and did this swap
to cure the problem.
