I have my truck ('53 1/2 ton blah blah blah) stored in a friend's garage
for the winter (upstate Nyawk). He called me about 3 weeks ago to tell me
there was a strong smell of gas that wasn't there before the truck was
parked. I said OK, I'll swing by and take a look (thinking to myself this
is strange, I never had a leak before putting it in his garage). I pop the
hood and start with the carb looking for a wet spot and trace the line to
the fuel pump and sure enough the line coming into the pump is wet at the
connection. I tighten it up a little, wipe it down and watch. No leakage.
Fixed.

I got a call last night saying that the smell was eliminated since I came
by but now its back again. Whats the deal? Is it temperature related? The
garage is unheated. Can I put something on the threads for a tighter seal
like permatex or teflon tape. I put a fuel filter on this summer between
the pump and the carb. Suggestions?
