Thanks to everyone that helped on the 235 cam. It turns out you need to get
the oil pump and lifters out of the way before the cam comes out. The Chevy
manual makes it sound like it's practically the second or third thing you
remove. For me it was almost last.

I wanted to also send some info to the list. I stopped down to our local
Auto Zone store to pick up a couple of things. I got talking to the manager
about my project. He says "gee I think we sell a reconditioned 235 engine."
He looks it up and sure enough. You can get a reconditioned 235 from Auto
Zone delivered to the store in 2 - 5 days. The engine is what they call a
Series I Engine. They gave me some literature. The cost is $1099.99 with a
$135.00 core charge. Comes with a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty. The
AutoZone part number is 706090.

Still going to work on mine. But that seams like a quick short cut for
someone.
