Drivers side lug (pink wire) to a switched 12V source.
Passenger side lug (green wire) to the sender on the engine. No thread
compound on the engine sender, it needs a good ground to the engine.
Sorry about leading you astray on the guage hookup before. I didn't
realize the 55-2 had a mechanical temp guage. 56+ had electric.
