Ron, the draft breather tube is there to allow the bottom of the block to
breath.  As the pistons move up and down they create changing air pressures
in the bottom end of the block.  Excessive oil leaking from the draft tube
could be caused by warn piston rings allowing engine compression to over
pressurize the bottom end forcing oil out.
