It's metal at its core, but it's a plastic material and you won't have much
left after you sand blast. I wouldn't use stripper either for the same
reason. Glass beads, plastic media or better yet crushed walnut shells might
do the trick

wheel???

                Hi Team:
I've got a 57 GMC 1/2 ton and I'm ready to paint the
steering wheel.

                Two questions:
                (1) Can I safely sandblast the wheel without damage, I'm not
sure if its
metal or some type of material that the sand might damage?
                (2) Steering wheels were originally painted the color of
the truck, right?
                Any advice appreciated.
                David
