Do you have an "Assembly Manual" for yours? They show pix of linkage and
etc. Most of those springs aren't very strong, usually have long leads, and
even little wire links to add to length. They may hook on a frame bracket
that has upper and lower holes in it, or may just hook into frame holes on
top. Try yours in holes farther toward front to give more tension. I could
look in my manual and send a scan of pix if you would like. Be warned, most
aftermarket ones at vendors will have one end long and straight, you have to
bend hook, and it is Hard to bend! Most in hardware stores won't have long
ends and will have spring in way of connecting to anything in my opinion.
Have you checked the condition of the pivot bushings on pedal shafts? Maybe
with new pressures from M/C they are moving to new spots on bushings and
binding? Maybe just a good geasing there may help. There is a zerk between
the pedal pivots under gunk maybe. Also, if your body mount has gone bad,
and cab settled, it will rub on pedal shafts and cause binding and
squeaking/scraping noises.
