Bill ~

I used my original '49 216 bellhousing when I installed my 235 with a T5
tranny. I think that the only reason was to keep the rear motor mounts.
You should be able to use the 235 bellhousing and retain the clutch, 216
flywheel and floor starter. It must be that the early (1940 216) had a
slt. diff. bellhousing than the later 1948-53 216. All I did was ream
out the 4 mounting holes on the T5 and it bolted right up to the
bellhousing. (after some mods to the T5 throwout bearing collar) If you
need any more help just contact me.

Does anyone know what bell housing I need, to run a t5 behind a 235. I was
planning on using the bell housing from the original 216. I have a 1940 1/2
ton truck. The truck originally ran a 3 speed floor shift transmission.

I read that the holes just needed to be enlarged, but the mounting pattern
is not the same.

I have the bell housing from the original 1960 235. Can I use that with the
original floor pedal starter and early flywheel?
