Hi Wayne,
Didn't see anyone else respond, but I can give you what little I learned.
Far as the drilling, been there done that. I used a transfer punch, then a 1/8"
bit followed by 3/8 and 1/2, YES, lottsa fun.

I did this swap on our 49 3100, but think the frame rails are about the same.
It will end up higher than stock, the web site that states it "also lowers 
the truck"
is incorrect. I cut 1 1/2 coils from the stock springs, however being a 
daily driver
in a little over two years it has settled down about 1 1/2 --2" thus I 
would advise
driving it a while prior to cutting coils. Perhaps a better choice would be 
aftermarket
lowering coils which keep the ride but still lower the truck.

Yes, I agree the steering mount required some thought and fabrication.
