Hello Oletruckers,
Thanks to the Coast Guard, we have our work cut out for us. Job one: we need
Bob Knotts to volunteer for an air photo recon mission. If this AD
truck/boat/now submarine is like my AD, there will be a small oil slick visible
from
3000 feet. A couple of gallon milk jugs securely tied to an old crank shaft
should mark the spot. (Or, as we Minnesotans do to mark a hot fishing spot, an
"X"
on the side of the boat/airplane.) Job two: find a pair of Colorado AD's, fit
them out with 55 gallon drums, props, and winches. Christen them, "Oletrucks
Take Care Of Their Own"--or some such, and get them to the marked spot. Job
three: locate some old Navy dive types who are not as old as yours truly. Job
four: raise the price of Oletruck tee shirts and sell a bunch to finance this
recovery expedition. Job five: sell the movie rights, pay expenses, and use the
leftovers to launch a campaign to replace current Coast Guard leadership with
an Oletrucker. If we want more AD's we have to stop sinking AD's.

Reported on CNN this morning was a group of Cubans took an AD pick up,
attached a propeller to the driveshaft, surrounded it with some kind of
floatation and motored their way to the coast of Florida where the Coast
Guard
picked them up!
This could be a new modification! I see the old amphi cars at the classic
boat
shows but never an AD!
