The trannies are BASICALLY the same, BUT, the 4x4 doesn't have a tail shaft
cover, the adapter for x-fer case goes on those holes and the output shaft
is lots shorter. Can only change the shaft by dissassembly of trans, amost
down to last part in case. SO, best bet is find diff trans.
There may be a ration diff in gears too, not sure, but most people wouldn't
notice I'm sure.
