And don't forget the original small block 265 cubes 3/34 X 3.
Your choice of the 283 is a good one as the engine has proven to develop
more horsepower per cu in than most of the other engines.We have just
completed a approx 300 hp version for a '67 truck . A popular engine combo
is the 292 version [.060]with stock [flat pistons]  Which by the way PAW
gave us a good deal on, about half price. You can use Power Pack heads if
you can them, or the later HO 305 heads, a modern dual plane manifold and
AFB carb. You will find an Iski 300 or Crane RV [294] works well in this
engine.Don't be afraid to build a 10:1 as the hp cam will cut some of the
cranking pressure.
