My 75 Spit has the same conversion and I
have been running with the timing set at
8 degrees BTDC and a point gap of .015.
Mine does not have vacuum advance(retard)
and seems to run fine at this setting, ie. starts
fine, no pinking on acceleration and no runon
when ignition is turned off.
