Hi All,
My 79 Spitfire has an electric cooling fan which has stopped
working. I have done some investigation with a test bulb to
determine that it is the motor on the fan, and not any of the
switches/relays etc.
I have taken the fan out of the car, and tried to open up the
motor, but to no avail. I therefore have the following questions:
1) Has anyone ever opened up this motor, if so how? I have removed
the nut on the front of the fan, but can't seem to separate the fan
from the motor. If I do manage to get it all apart, is there likely
to be anything inside I can fix/replace to get it working again?
2) Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? I have checked
the catalogue's for Spitbits, Moss and Vickie British, and they only
seem to have parts for the older mechanical fans listed. If I can't
find a replacement, has anyone fitted a universal electric fan to a
spit? Any recommendations?
