REmoving the seat to gain access to

Use the leaver to flip the seat forward, not the recline one, but the
seat releace one.  Then recline the seat back, whist holding the back
base.  Once this is done hold the seat forward as far as it will go. 
Then undo the two releace bolts that the seat is fixed to.

You are left with the seat free to be removed from the car, and the
rails still atached to the floor.  

I found that I needed to put some spacers between the rails and the
floor to stop the slider catching in the carpet.  
You can do things like soak them in releaceing fluid an hammer them
untill they move with them in situ. 

I suspect that you will find loads of new ones in the scrap yeards.
